Parents Leaflet Download [▼]
To give out to parents explaining why we are going on strike – there are two versions in the pdf download file, one which has space to add details if they want to organise a meeting, the other has information on how parents can support us. Please feel free to use these locally.
Urgent Appeal For Stewards:
We wish to identify six colleagues from your association who can act as stewards for the day – this will help us make sure we have a well organised march and rally and are able to deal with any media scrum should any celebrities turn up. Please inform the NTA President.
Appeal by Kevin Courtney, Acting NUT General Secretary:
Help your MP get the message – enough is enough.
Earlier this week I wrote to all MPs. The NUT’s message explained the harm that funding cuts are having in schools, the threat to teachers’ pay and conditions and why the Union is standing up for education by balloting for industrial action.
This message will have much more of an impact if MPs now hear from lots of their constituents reinforcing the points the NUT has raised nationally.
The NTA ballot papers relating to the nomination of the NUT General Secretary were processed. The majority of NTA members who voted wished to nominate a candidate for the new NUT General Secretary. The NTA’s nomination is Kevin Courtney. The nomination papers were sent to the NUT before the deadline.
The NUT announced that 2 candidates have been nominated to stand for election. They are Kevin Courtney & Beth Davies
Ballot papers will be despatched on Friday, 24 June 2016 by the independent scrutineer. Ballot papers will be accompanied by candidates’ election statements, biographical details and photographs.
Members who do not receive a ballot paper by Monday, 11 July 2016 should be advised to contact the election ballot hotline on 020 7380 4825. They will need their membership number to hand.
The closing date for receipt of completed ballot papers at the offices of ERS is midday on Friday, 15 July 2016.
